WHAT TO EXPECT FRIDAY
6 - 8 p.m. -- Bike MS Kickoff The annual kickoff of Bike MS is at Friday Packet Pickup, which includes the following:
- Opportunity to get your rider number and event T-shirt
- Donation drop off to reach your $300 fundraising minimum
- Secure bike parking for the event weekend
- Certified safety check of your bicycle
- Decorate your team tent at the team tent village
- Set-up camp if you are spending the night camping under the stars
- Meet some of our top fundraisers, teams and MS Staff!
WHAT TO EXPECT SATURDAY
Riders have six route options Saturday: 15, 35, 50, 75, 100 or 124 miles. Registration opens at 5 a.m.
Riders participating in Saturday's 15 & 35 - mile route will have a mass-start at 8:30 a.m.
All other riders (50, 75, 100 or 124 mile routes) will start at 7 a.m.
Riders are fully supported with rest stops every 10-15 miles and Support and Gear (SAG) vehicles stocked with bottled water patrolling the route. You may flag down a SAG vehicle for water or for a ride to the nearest rest stop or the start/finish line.
While you are out on the route, enjoy a famous Kroeschell hamburger & egg sandwich for lunch which will be served at one of the rest stops. (For those who ride the 15 or 35 mile routes and don't make it to the lunch rest stop, we will hold your lunch for you at the finish line.)
After returning to the start/finish line, riders will enjoy a full buffet style dinner, a beer garden, team tent village, music and more. Showers will be available, too!
Spectators aren’t
forgotten! Friends and family of riders are encouraged to enjoy all that the
main site has to offer. Create signs for your rider and experience the symptoms
of MS with the MS lab in the Join the Movement tent, cheer on the riders as
they come through the finish line, visit the booths of our sponsors, and
entertain the kids with a bouncy house and a kids ride!
Saturday Event Schedule
5 a.m. -- Registration Opens Haven’t gotten your packet yet? Don’t worry you will be able to stop by registration and get your rider number. You must have your rider number before setting out on the ride!
5:30 a.m. -- Continental Breakfast Make sure you get your carbs in before your set out on the ride. Stop by the food tent for a pastry, banana and a coffee before heading out on the ride.
7 a.m. -- Mass Start for 50, 75, 100 & 124 mile riders. Route Opens Our mass start lead by our top five fundraising teams is at 7 a.m. We will start of the day with a short program with national anthem and recognition of some key people who help make this event happens. We ask that all applicable riders are lined up by 7 a.m. to set out on the road. All participants must be on the road by 9 a.m.
8:30 a.m. -- Mass Start for 15 & 35 Mile Riders
11 a.m. - 7 p.m. -- Food is Served The main meal of pasta, chicken, salad, baked potatoes, and more will begin to be served at 11 a.m. This is to ensure that all who are hungry and ready to eat can get food when they want. While you are out on the route, lunch with be served at one of the rest stops. For those who ride the 35-mile route and don’t make it out to the lunch rest stop, don’t worry you’ll still get one! ***Note that only the 35-mile riders will be able to pick-up their burgers at the main site.***
Noon - Goose Island Beer Garden After spending the day out on the farm, come back to the Team Tent Village and stop by the beer garden for a cold one. Only those who are 21years of age and older will be allowed in the beer garden and must show an ID. Don’t miss out on some delicious beer!
Noon - 9 p.m.-- Music Performances Stop by the performance stage to hear some amazing bands!
3:30 - 4 p.m. Kids Ride Cheer on the kids as they ride around the NIU Convacation center during this special ride exclusively for junior MS Champions!
6 p.m. -- Bike MS Program After listening to some amazing bands, stick around to recognize some of our top fundraisers, teams and of course to announce our Best Decorated Team Tent and Best Team Jersey.
6 p.m. -- Route Closed By 6:00 p.m. the route will be closed and all participants will be back on the main site.
WHAT TO EXPECT SUNDAY
After resting from Saturday’s excitement, power up with a warm breakfast at the starting line then head out on either a 15, 35, 50 or 75-mile ride.
Come back to base one last time at the end of your day’s ride to a celebration. Food and entertainment will greet you when you finish Sunday afternoon.
Sunday Event Schedule
5 a.m. -- Registration Opens Just riding one day and haven't gotten your packet yet? Don't worry you will be able to stop by registration and get your rider number. You must have your rider number before setting out on your ride!
6 - 8:30 a.m. -- Hot Breakfast After a hard ride on Saturday, stop by the food tent to enjoy a hot breakfast of pancakes, scrambled eggs, sausage, oatmeal and more.
7 a.m. -- Route Opens Set out on the ride with our elite group of 150 top fundraisers, our Bike MS Gold Spokes Members. All participants must be on the road by 9 a.m. If you are not on the road by this time, our SAG crew will drive you to the first rest stop to ensure that you will be able to finish the ride by the 6 p.m. route closing.
11 a.m. - 6 p.m. -- Food is Served After riding enjoy a family style BBQ of hot dogs and hamburgers sponsored by Lee & Eddies Catering. While out on the route, lunch will be served at the lunch rest stop.
6 p.m. -- Route Closed By 6 p.m., the route will be closed and all participants will be back on the main site. You will have officially completed the Bike MS: Tour de Farms - CONGRATULATIONS!
